Westwin Elements welcomes Hopper Smith, as our new Chief Strategy Officer. Hopper Smith, Brigadier General (Retired), holds a B.S. in geology from Oklahoma State University and master's degrees from the National Defense Intelligence College and the Army War College. With 35 years of military and civilian executive experience, he served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, on the House Energy and Appropriations committees, and House Minority Leadership. He resigned in 2003 when his National Guard unit was deployed to Afghanistan.
Upon returning, he held roles such as Director of Government Relations for Chesapeake Energy, President of OCPA, and Director of Public Affairs for Devon Energy. He completed a second combat deployment and was promoted to Brigadier General in 2012, later serving as Assistant Adjutant General of the Oklahoma National Guard. In 2018, he became Executive Director of Oklahoma's Workers' Compensation Commission.
He is a 2022 Distinguished Alumni of Oklahoma State University and has served as State Director of Aerospace & Defense and Executive Director at the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
